Winter cakes

Its only the 22nd of September and it feels like Autumn is over and winter is upon us, so what better time to try and bake some winter warmers to cheer up the dark nights that are closing in.

So far I have baked this week, some ginger bread men and carrot cake which went down a treat with the family bobbing in a for a hot steaming cup of tea.

My father went so far, as to say that he had not thought that a ginger bread man cake would complement a good cup of tea so well. I have made a note of this so when his birthday comes around we can start the day off this way.

When it gets closer to Christmas im going to trail one or two variations of mince pies and crimbo cake, I have had lots of emails and suggestion of different types of alcohol that can be used in the preparation for the crimbo so that should be fun and games if I stick to putting the alcohol in the cake rather than have an accompanying glass.

What ideas do you have for winter food or cakes, id love to hear all about them.

Also if your looking for a sweet fix check out the cakes on this site.
